about socialdatalab   The Social Data Lab collaborates with businesses to navigate the irreversible impact of the Social Data Revolution on individuals, business, and society. We help members take advantage of innovative technologies and ideas in emerging social data startups. The lab is directed by Andreas Weigend who also teaches the Stanford course The Social Data Revolution (MS&E 237). The students are interdisciplinary group of Stanford students from fields ranging from computer science to sociology.

The goal of the lab identifies interesting applications of social data used by emerging startups and develop executable plan to benefit your company. We help you take advantage of underlying social data technologies and build key partnerships through our direct access to diverse range of startups and the VC investment community.

The lab provides opportunities for members to engage directly with the leading social data companies like Facebook, as well as with innovative social and mobile startups. By harnessing the digital experiences and work style of the next generation, we develop insights relevant for our members, helping them create their social data strategy and execute on it.

The group of founding members will be announced in April 2011. Advisors include Dan Ariely Kenneth Cukier, John Markoff, and Rick Smolan.

The lab custom-tailors insights for your company about social data that are direct and impactful including:

  • Unique applications by partnering with emerging social data & mobile startups
  • Key social data that can be extracted from customers or from social data startups
  • Monthly video on the most salient social data topics
  • Quarterly Social Data Summit for company executives & social data companies
These insights help companies explore how external macro-forces of social data can be leveraged by companies to shift internal momentum.

social data summit   Each quarter, the key event is the Social Data Summit. It brings together all participants -- member company representatives, exciting social data startups, venture capitalists in the ecosystem, innovators, and bright students that live the future of social data.
